The Kellogg School of Management Welcomes Pulitzer Prize-Winner James B. Stewart

“Common Sense” Columnist Tackles Credit Crisis as part of Kellogg Distinguished Lecture Series

11/12/2008 - As the credit crisis continues to loom over Americans, economic experts and consumers alike are still looking at what caused Wall Street to topple, who put the global financial system at risk, and more importantly, what steps need to be taken in the coming months to restore the health of the economy. Noted author and columnist James B. Stewart will appear at the Kellogg School of Management November 17 to speak to students, faculty and alumni about the meltdown on Wall Street and the economic implications of the presidential election.

Stewart is speaking as part of the Kellogg Distinguished Lecture Series, which features preeminent thought leaders from the worlds of academia, journalism and business. The series seeks to address key issues and critical challenges facing today’s leaders, including the financial crisis, emerging global economies and business ethics.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist from his Wall Street Journal articles on the 1987 stock market crash, James B. Stewart examines events in business, law and politics that shape American society. Stewart features his insights into business and investing trends for his SmartMoney column, “Common Sense,” which also runs in the Wall Street Journal. Stewart’s book, Disney War: The Battle for the Magic Kingdom, was a New York Times bestseller and won the Loeb Award for Best Business Book. Another of his bestsellers, Den of Thieves, is considered the definitive account of 1980s Wall Street insider trading scandals. He is currently the Bloomberg Professor of Business and Economic Journalism at Columbia University.

This event will take place on Monday, November 17, 2008 5:15 – 6:15 p.m., including a 45-minute lecture followed by 15-minute Q&A
