Zell Scholarships for 2008-09 awarded

10/31/2008 - Congratulations to Massimo Mancini ’09 and Jeff Schaeffer ’10 who have been chosen as recipients of the Zell Scholarships for 2008-09. They each will receive an award of $25,000. As Zell Scholars, the students will complete certain courses in the Zell Center curriculum while also completing a research project on a subject that helps illuminate how people perceive or manage risk.

Mancini’s project is titled, "Corporate Risk Hedging Strategies and Shareholders’ Value Creation: the Southwest Airlines Case," and Schaeffer’s project is "The Impact of FAS157 on the Risk, Investment Structure, and Performance of Market Participants Before and During the Financial Crisis."

Both students are working with Kellogg faculty advisers on their projects. Previous projects have been published and become case studies.
